Notification from: Northridge Local School District - ADMIN
Dear Northridge Families:
This is an unprecedented and challenging time in our district, state, and country. Today, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that schools will be closed for three weeks. The Governor has asked that during this extended period of closure, that schools work to provide education through alternative means and that staff members should continue to report to school as directed by administrators.
The current plan for Northridge, which is subject to change, is as follows:
1-Last day of school prior to extended break:
Northridge Schools will be open and in session on Friday, March 13. Friday will be the students’ last day prior to this extended closure. We will ask students to bring home personal belongings so that we may properly complete a deep cleaning of the building. The first possible day back for students will be Monday, April 6th.
2- Activities and Practices:
Starting Friday, March 13, at 2:30 pm for the High School and 3:30pm for the Primary School, All school activities - after-school activities, extracurricular activities, athletic practices and games - are canceled with no exceptions. Additionally, all community building use is canceled beginning Friday, Mar. 13 through at least Sunday, April 5. ** The SACC program will continue on Friday the 13th until regular hours.
3- Staff preparations for “Learning at Home”:
There will be no school on Monday, March 16th for students. District staff will report on Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th to begin developing educational plans and assignments.
4-“Learning at Home” begins:
Beginning March 30, our plan is to start providing “Learning at Home” opportunities for our students. More information will be shared by building principals and teachers in the coming days. We know this is not a replacement for everyday instruction in classrooms, but it is important to still provide every child an opportunity to learn during this time.
5- Providing food during this time:
We have been discussing plans for feeding children in our community during this time. We are working with the Licking County Health Department to develop safe plans that will serve those in our community who need the most assistance.
We will continue updating our families with important information by email and phone. We will not be using Facebook at this time for important updates as there is no guarantee all our families would receive the important information. We will also have updated information on our website.
Information about this virus and society’s response to the virus is changing daily. The health and safety of students, staff, and families are extremely important to us at Northridge. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
